Cratere verde
A large bowl with an unobtrusive and silent shape - a recurring form in my production - inspired by Nanni Valentini’s parabola.
Since the bowl has a simple shape, our attention is concentrated on the color, texture and substance of clay and glaze. The chamotted stoneware body is covered with a dark red slip glaze with an earthy surface - composed entirely of volcanic rocks from Lipari island (pumice and kaolin) - that requires tactile experience to appreciate. Inside, a dark green vitreous glaze causes a double contrast: between smooth/rough surfaces and between complementary colors. |
